Chalk Design at Rise Espresso / Toronto

Here is a few shots of some recent chalk lettering & design that I recently finished at Rise Espresso in Toronto. If you like hidden treasures & quality espresso in the midst of commercial shenanigans, then you will be stoked to find this little crack in the wall espresso bar located just off Dundas Street (107 Mutual Street) } a 2 minute walk from Dundas Square. Don't be shy.

Many thanks to Dom, Jenny-Lee & Alan for this opportunity.

Mural at Community 54 / Toronto

I have been on the hunt for the opportunity to create a mural in Toronto for a while now, & so when Joel from Community 54 extended the invitation I was stoked. The final is below, based upon my original illustration that I had posted a few days ago titled 'Treasure Wisdom More Than Gold'.

If you are in Toronto, make sure to put Community 54 on your list of places to check out. Joel - the owner & manager is a wealth of knowledge & passionate about the Parkdale neighbourhood where the store is located. This is the type of guy that you want representing your product as well. He is a brilliant advocate for everything stocked in store & always makes the customer feel like an old friend when walking through his doors.

If you interested in having a mural of your own - then please feel welcome to contact me directly. Many thanks.

Martin (my brother) & Samantha currently live in Ireland & are currently serving in collaboration with Youth With A Mission. I am proud of who they are, what they are doing & how they are going about living their lives. They get married in less than a month & Im sure they are buzzing with excitement. Much love to you both.

Unveiled Photography

I am very excited to partner with Jo of Unveiled Photography in relaunching her visual branding.

The opening design is the new logo, followed by a watermark & then a blog banner. Branding the identity of who you are as a business can be a daunting venture, & so it was humbling to be given the trust in partnering with Jo on creating this three piece design package.

If you like beautifully crafted lifestyle photography, then you will love what Jo is doing at Unveiled Photography. Her attention to detail, use of colours & ability to capture an individuals emotions are simply brilliant. So go on - take a few moments out of your day & enjoy browsing through her galleries.

Let the inspiration begin & your imagination run wild!

Feel free to contact me regarding any design needs you may have.

Chalk Lettering at the University of Waterloo

This is a sample of some recent chalk hand lettering that I have just finished at the University of Waterloo as part of their newly renovated cafe for students living on campus. It was a a good feeling being in the space while everyone was going hammer & tong completing their last minute jobs before opening. A great experience to be a part of the overall design. Many thanks to Bear & Lee for the opportunity - it was a real pleasure.

It Is Good to be Alive

Its going to be a wild few weeks I can feel it.

The next four weeks are packed with three murals, a road trip to Michigan, camping in northern Ontario, tattoo designs, commissioned illustrations, branding designs, chalk lettering & more. With my birthday a few days away & our planned holiday back to Australia at the end of September - Im stoked. Thanks to my beautiful wife & best friend Drea for her amazing support & love through it all - I am a very blessed man.

Just going back to the reference regarding the upcoming murals...

I can now share that the first will be completed at Community 54 in Toronto. "Community 54 is a neighborhood lifestyle boutique inspired by creative nostalgia. From classic arcade games and vintage street wear, mixed with new indie brands and contemporary art, the space is a destination for curators of unique collectibles and clothing. It’s a place where culture mavens and social connectors interact with local artists and designers." With the original shop in NYC they have more recently branched out & up to Parkdale in Toronto on Queen Street W. Come on down this coming Saturday for some live mural action & an opportunity to pick up some originals & prints not to mention the bounty of goods from Community 54 on offer every day.

Lately I have been inspired by the beautiful bold colours & clean lines used within traditional American tattoos. I wanted to approach this illustration ( 'Treasure Wisdom More Than Gold' ) referencing this influence & in addition integrate my own style. Im stoked with the outcome. The illustration will be reconstructed as a mural as shared above. The original illustration is For Sale

See you soon.

Sunny Fridays at Detour Coffee

I needed some fresh air today & nothing hits the spot like a good drive through the country side. So I jumped in my car & made my way down to sunny Dundas to visit the very inspiring Detour Coffee. I have been working on a few new designs with Detour (coming soon!) & wanted to make it down in person to sample their much loved coffee. I was certainly not disappointed - well worth the drive indeed. If you live in Dundas or if you are within a few hours driving distance then make to make an appearance.

The wood panels at the bottom of the image is from a shot I took while driving home of an old decrepit barn. There is a bounty of them in the area which never ceases to inspire me.
