Walking down the road towards the beach this morning I was captivated by the beauty of the ocean. For those of you who know me well - don't worry - I won't go into one of my 'how much I love the ocean' speeches, but I must say it was very inspiring to say the least.
I often talk about inspiration & the gift it is when arriving in the most unexpected ways, but today I want to share briefly about creating an environment that welcomes inspiration. It is easy to fill our days with the 'to do' list where by our Saturdays can simply become post-Fridays & our Sundays become pre-Mondays. We are swallowed up in our own anxiety & fail to enjoy the present & in turn leave inspiration at the kerb to blown away by the winds of stress.
You might not find the ocean overly inspiring & that's OK, but rather then defining what isn't inspiring - ask yourself - what is? What causes you to feel alive? How can you introduce that into your day to day schedule? How can we all make room for the very thing that gives us context & the motivation to live with passion?
Perhaps you don't have any inspiration & my encouragement to you is to rediscover time. Time is the most precious currency & it is the very thing required for you to actually explore inspiration. Don't get caught up in removing the noise of life completely, but rather see what you can discover in the chaos. Give yourself five, ten, fifteen minutes in the morning, at lunch, after dinner & begin to explore. Allow yourself the freedom to remove the unnecessary tasks from your mind for tomorrow will have it's own worries & ask the question - what inspires me?
Now begins the adventure!
