Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 02:06PM This is a very special post written about a very special artist - Amelia Sampson.
Last year I received this amazing letter & illustration from my good mates - Brandon & Danna's daughter Amelia. It is always inspiring to receive mail in the letter-box & to receive mail that is so personal is just gold. It reminded me about coming back to basics as an artist & what it means to give expression to our God given desire for creativity.
It is easy to stray from why I first started illustrating in the first place with various pressures of life, but it is always good to stop & remember the why. Why did I start in the first place? The basic answer was because of passion & an innocent desire to make something beautiful.

Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 11:15PM It has really been an incredible year & in turn I thought it would be fitting to finish on a high note with my last blog post for 2012.
I recently finished this Cuvée beer label design for Nickel Brook brewery (Burlington, ON / Canada) & I am really stoked with the outcome. It is quite surreal to see a design go from pencil on paper right the way through to a printed label & available for purchase. A little intimidating & a heap of excitement all at the same time.
Each bottle has been individually wax sealed & finished with copper foiled Cuvée lettering to really honour the time & effort that goes on behind the scenes when brewing craft beer.

Friday, December 21, 2012 at 08:22AM It has been a real privilege to be working with Geoff, Kaelin & Crystal from Detour Coffee Roasters in Burlington (Roast) & Dundas (Café) over the last number of months. We have collaboratively been working on various projects from branding, t-shirts, chalkboard lettering & brew cards. If you would like to experience some beautifully crafted coffee than Detour is a brilliant example of what is possible - you will not be dissapointed!
Below are the brew cards I had mentioned for both the Aeropress & Press Pot which can both be purchased from the Detour Café/Restaurant located at 41 King Street, Dundas ON.
